“Tapestry provides Counselling & Family Therapy to families embracing challenging circumstances. “

Who we are

Tapestry is a interdisciplinary therapy centre, designed to support individuals and families across the life span.

We specialise in offering therapy to children, adolescents, adults and families through personal and integrative interventions.

helping children

For our youngest clients we offer integrative Play Therapy, a well-established approach supported with evidence-based research for its effectiveness in treating a wide range of emotional and behavioural issues in children.

It is a mild and gentle non-directive approach that allows the child to make sense of their world and share what could be creating distressing emotions for them, through the medium of play and creativity.

For our junior to teenage clients, we introduce a wider range of counselling modalities, allowing them to talk through problems they are experiencing. These could include adjusting to school, navigating peer challenges, managing learning difficulties, striving for perfectionism or struggling with self-esteem. It may also be unhealthy sleeping or eating habits, overuse of technology or repairing relationships with siblings and parents.

Many of these challenges can also be observed across adolescence, with teenagers often more self-assured in being able to articulate issues they are confronting. Although some of the issues could be the same between juniors to teenagers, the difference in the therapeutic approach remains quite important.

At Tapestry, we believe in the importance of family, and that each is unique. Which is why we tailor our therapeutic interventions to be global, integrative and multidisciplinary, taking into account the developmental, social and cultural dimensions of each situation

Dir therapy/floortime

DIR Therapy, also known as Floortime, is a play-based approach designed to support children with developmental differences and sensory processing difficulties.

It is an approach that emphasises building relationships and following the child’s lead to foster social, emotional, and cognitive development.

DIR/Floortime aims to enhance communication, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills.

This framework highlights the importance of understanding a child’s developmental stage, unique individual characteristics, and the role of relationships in their development.

DIR/Floortime prioritizes building a strong emotional connection between the child and caregiver, which is seen as crucial for cognitive, social, and language development. It can be offered as an office and home based treatment.

While often used with children, the DIR/Floortime principles can be applied to individuals of all ages to promote development and well-being.

Sensory Processing sensitivities

Understanding Sensory-Friendly Clothing

We design sensory-friendly clothes for girls and boys specifically designed to accommodate their sensory needs and challenges in processing sensory information. They offer features that minimize discomfort and sensory overload, allowing children to feel at ease in their clothes. Key features of our clothing include soft and breathable fabrics, tagless labels and seamless construction. By prioritising comfort and reducing sensory triggers, our sensory-friendly clothing promotes confidence and independence in children with sensory issues.

The Benefits Of Sensory-Friendly Clothing

Sensory-friendly clothing offers numerous benefits for children with sensory issues. It not only addresses their unique sensory challenges but also promotes self-expression and positive sensory experiences. By providing comfort and minimising sensory triggers, the clothes can help reduce anxiety and meltdowns, allowing children to focus on exploring the world around them. Sensory-friendly clothing empowers children to participate in activities, socialise, and develop their own personal style while feeling supported and comfortable.
